Research in Pancreatic Cancer at Clínic

Reading time: 1 min

Research into pancreatic cancer is conducted at the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) as part of the Gastrointestinal and Pancreatic Oncology group.

These are main active clinical and experimental studies in this field:

  • Generation of organoids using pancreatic tumour tissue from patients undergoing surgery or lesion puncture. Organoids are mini-organs that reproduce the original tissue. This system allows the tumour to be characterised from a molecular perspective, and provides a tool for testing various drugs with the aim of providing personalised medicine.
  • Analysis of microRNAs in circulating liposomes for the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
  • Evaluation of antifibrogenic compounds for the prevention and treatment of pancreatic cancer in experimental mice.
  • Immunoscore analysis in pancreatic tumour biopsy as a prognostic and therapeutic response parameter in patients with pancreatic cancer.
