Treating Hypothyroidism at the Clínic

Reading time: 1 min

Hypothyroidism is usually monitored by primary healthcare professionals.

On the other hand, cases associated with hypothyroidism following ablative iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism or endocrine surgery for benign nodules are usually monitored in hospital and then followed up on an outpatient basis. Cases associated with thyroid cancer are treated in hospital. Causes associated with the pituitary gland are usually treated by an endocrinology specialist.

Hospital Clínic participates in patient outreach events, as well as training talks for primary care doctors within the hospital's catchment area and for internal medicine specialists at the hospital. In addition, the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service at Hospital Clínic actively participates in the relevant societies both in Catalonia (Societat Catalana d'Endocrinologia i Nutrició; SCEN) and Spain (Sociedad Española de Endocrinología y Nutrición; SEEN).
