Prognosis of Hypothyroidism

Reading time: 1 min

In most cases, hypothyroidism requires lifelong replacement therapy. The thyroxine dose may need to be adjusted over a period of time. Once a stable dose has been established, the patient can usually have an annual follow-up. If the patient follows the prescribed treatment on daily basis, they will remain free of the symptoms secondary to hypothyroidism, and their quality of life and longevity will not be affected.
