Prognosis of the Diseases of the Eyelids

Reading time: 1 min

The results of these surgeries are usually very satisfactory in most cases. Complications are uncommon after this type of procedure, although it should be mentioned that a small percentage of patients may obtain unsatisfactory results and require further interventions. It is common for eyelid oedema and haematoma to appear following these surgeries. Although these do not affect the final result in any way, patients may worry if they are not aware that this is normal.

Dystonia is a chronic disease for which there is no cure. However, most patients can benefit from Botulinum Toxin injections to improve their quality of life.

In the case of eyelid tumours, most cases have a favourable prognosis when complete excision is performed. Complementary treatments (chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy) may be required to control the disease only in certain cases of very aggressive tumours, or when there is metastases.
