Symptoms of Back Pain

Among the signs and symptoms of back pain, the following ones are included:

Low back pain

Muscular pains.

Throbbing pain in the back with a lightning bolt

Stabbing pain.

Pain that radiates towards the leg.

Pain that gets worse with bending, on getting up, standing, or walking.

In most cases, back pain improves gradually in a few weeks with treatment at home and personal care. If the pain does not improve within that period, a health professional must be consulted.

In rare cases, back pain can indicate a serious medical problem. It must be seen to urgently if the back pain is accompanied by:

Bed rest as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and back pain

Is intense and does not improve with rest.

Person with back pain extending to one or both legs

It extends to one or both legs, particularly if the pain extends below the knee.

Person with back pain with weakness and numbness or tingling in legs

It causes weakness, numbness, or pins and needles in one or both legs.

It is accompanied by an inexplicable weight loss.
