Acute Myeloid Leukaemia prognosis

AML is a curable disease, but the prognosis varies greatly, depending primarily on the age and health status of the patient, the subtype of AML, and the treatment response.

Among other factors, advanced age, the presence of certain genetic/molecular abnormalities, initial leukocyte count, and AML related to prior treatments or secondary to other previous haematological diseases are some of the parameters involved in an unfavourable prognosis.
