Tribute to Santiago Ramón y Cajal: Screening of the short film Cajal Libremente

On Tuesday, 18/03/2025, at 15:00, the short film Cajal Libremente will be screened at the Farreras Valentí Room of Hospital Clínic (C/ Villarroel 170, staircase 9, 3rd floor, 08036 Barcelona).

The short film is based on various essays and fiction texts by Nobel laureate Santiago Ramón y Cajal, particularly three of his "Cuentos de vacaciones", originally published in 1906. It was filmed at CSIC locations in Madrid, recreating the scientific atmosphere of the time.

The event will feature the presence of the two screenwriters and directors, Sergio Lara and José Luis Trejo, the latter a researcher at the Cajal Institute of CSIC.

The event will begin with a brief tribute to Cajal, presented by:

• Raquel Sánchez Valle, neurologist, medical director of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, and head of the IDIBAPS research group "Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Cognitive Disorders".
• Jordi Alberch, neuroscientist, director of the Institute of Neurosciences at the University of Barcelona, and head of the research group "Pathophysiology and Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases".
• Roser Cortés, neuroscientist, director of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Barcelona (IIBB) at CSIC and researcher at IDIBAPS.

After the screening, a discussion will be opened with the attendees. The event will conclude at 16:30.
