Reseach - Unit of Vascular Access

The research activity of the Vascular Access unit of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is carried out through the Institute of Biomedical Research August Pi Sunyer (IDIBAPS), in the group:

The main lines of research led by the Unit are the following:

• Application of new antiseptic solutions in the prevention of catheter-related bacteremia (BRC).
• New therapeutic approaches in the management of vascular access complications.
• The relationship between hemodialysis dose reduction and vascular access dysfunction.
• Use of different automated methods in measuring the flow of vascular access.
• Application of ultrasound-doppler for the control of the maturation of vascular access.
• Active programs of isometric exercises to promote the development of vascular access.
