realtime information, bacteraemia and mortality
Title
Objective
We will review 6,225 episodes of bacteraemia admitted to the hospital from January 2013 to December 2019. Bacteraemia-associated mortality will be compared between periods where blood culture result information is relayed to the infectious disease specialist [IDS] in real time (8-hour window period from 8am to 8pm) and those periods where information is deferred to the following morning (8-hours window period from 8pm to 7:59am). A fully adjusted logistic regression analysis will be performed to evaluate the impact of information availability using mortality at 30 days as the main outcome of the study.
