Silvia Affò
Research group
- Tumor microenvironment plasticity and heterogeneity (TMHet) Junior group leader (R3B)
About me
After obtaining her PhD in Medicine at University of Barcelona and intrigued by the intersection of liver cancer and fibrosis, in 2014 Dr Silvia Affò moved for her postdoctoral studies to Columbia University, US, where she investigated hepatic stellate cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts. Her work has been published in high impact journals including Cancer Cell, and she has been supported through all the stages of her career by national and international competitive awards and funding, including the prestigious Research Scholar from the American Gastroenterological Association, the competitive La Caixa Junior Leader and Marie Curie, and recently by the ERC Starting Grant 2022
