Dr. Cañas is currently a member of the Infectious Endocarditis and Endovascular Infections research group at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. In recent years, in the endocarditis field his research is focused on his working on experimental endocarditis model using humanlike pharmacokinetics, in which the in vivo studies are focused on antibiotic prophylaxis and treatment of experimental endocarditis caused by resistant Gram-positive cocci. Her most recent research has concentrated on new antimicrobials (linezolid, oritavancin, dalbavancin, daptomycin, ceftaroline, tedizolid) and antimicrobial combinations (Linezolid + Rifampicin, Tedizolid + Rifampicin, daptomycin + fosfomycin, daptomycin + ceftaroline), against Gram positive microorganisms.
