Constantino Fondevila is Professor of Surgery and Consultant Surgeon in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery and Liver Transplantation, Hospital Clinic, University of Barcelona. He is Chief of General and Digestive Surgery and the leader of the Liver Transplantation and Graft Viability group (IDIBAPS) and the Liver Transplantation group (CIBERehd).
He is actively involved in clinical protocols to expand organ availability, including through the use of donation after circulatory determination of death (DCD) and live donation (LD) livers. He performs advanced hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery and has a special interest using laparoscopic techniques for major and minor hepatic resections.
He is also actively involved in basic research, primarily in porcine DCD and partial liver transplant models
