How to access the Intercultural Mediation service.

The Intercultural Mediation service, offered through the Catalan Health Service, provides support to healthcare teams by facilitating communication with people with whom there is an irreconcilable linguistic and/or cultural difference.

  • The Service facilitates linguistic and cultural communication between the patient (and his/her immediate environment) and the healthcare staff.
  • The Service helps patients understand and adhere to treatments.
  • The Service avoids unnecessary visits and contacts with the hospital caused by communication difficulties.
  • The Service makes available to patients information about the healthcare system and its resources.
  • The Service is available mornings.

Maternity Hospital:

The service is aimed at supporting the communication needs that arise in the Maternal Fetal Medicine and Neonatology services of the Clinical Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatology (ICGON).

  • Maghreb mediation on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
  • Chinese mediation on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Urdu Mediation, Friday.

Villarroel Headquarters:

  • Maghreb mediation on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
  • Chinese mediation on Friday.
  • Urdu Mediation Thursday.

  • To contact the Mediation service, you should contact the team of reference professionals.
