Jordi Gracia-Sancho is a renowned researcher in the field of liver research, as demonstrated by his track record that includes over 130 original articles and reviews. In 2012, he obtained a "Ramón y Cajal" contract, later progressing to his current position. Additionally, he is a guest lecturer at various educational institutions in Spain and other parts of Europe, and leads a wide range of educational initiatives, including the LiverSeminars Programme, the publication of the book, “Sinusoidal Cells in Liver Diseases”, as well as various symposia focused on liver research. In recognition of his excellence, he was the first Spanish researcher to be awarded the Emerging Leader Award of the European Association for the Study of Liver (EASL) in 2016, and since last December he has been scientific director of the Biomedical Research Networking Centre for Hepatic and Digestive Diseases (CIBEREHD) at the Carlos III Health Institute – Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
On the International Society for Hepatic Sinusoidal Research (ISHSR)
The ISHSR is a non-profit organization established in 2008 that seeks to promote education and research (basic and translational) on hepatic sinusoidal cells, their pathology and interactions. Originally, this society was called The Kupffer Cell Foundation and was created by pioneers in the field of hepatic sinusoidal research in 1976. It currently has more than 400 members from 30 different countries.
