According to data presented, there are currently about 60 million Europeans suffering from diabetes, and the disease consumes 9% of financial resources allocated to health. With a forecast that in 2040 the number of patients exceeds 70 million people, diabetes is not only a serious public health problem but also a major threat to the sustainability of health systems.
