In recent years, the Clínic has intensified its commitment to sponsorship and fundraising, raising up to €4 million in the last three years. This money was raised thanks to over 4,000 donations managed by the Sponsorship Area, and has allowed an average of 60 projects to be financed per year.
These projects, focusing on research, healthcare improvement and cooperation, were made possible thanks to the professionalization of the sponsorship activity at the hospital. The Clínic created its own sponsorship and fundraising management model based on a strategy integrated into the hospital's day-to-day operations and institutional priorities. This guarantees efficient management of the activity, transparency in the application of resources and the promotion of projects that generate a real social impact. This professionalization allows the hospital to establish solid relationships with donors and sponsors, as well as to promote more ambitious research and healthcare projects.
“Fundraising and Health: Analysing Successful Strategies in the Sector and New Trends” Conference
Within the framework of this commitment, the first Fundraising and Health Conference was organized, coinciding with the Summer School, a series of conferences promoted by the hospital and the Vila Casas Private Foundation. The event, which brought together professionals from the Campus Clínic and experts from the sector, was held with the aim of sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities for improvement, thus consolidating the commitment of the hospital and the Clínic Barcelona Research Foundation-IDIBAPS to offer excellent medical care and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
The conference, which began with a welcome speech by Dr. Josep Maria Campistol, director general of the hospital, was attended by Michael Seo, expert in fundraising in the field of health and founder of ReaMedica, who spoke about trends and funding opportunities with a global vision.
The day also featured Berta Segura, director of DMentes Agency, and Francesca Tur, CEO of tendencias.tv, who gave a dynamic workshop on the trends that will mark the future of fundraising. Afterwards, there was a discussion the importance of involving scientists in fundraising, with the participation of Dr. Pedro Luis Alonso, professor of Global Health, and Glòria Oliver, vice-president of the Catalan Foundation Coordinating Committee; moderated by Sandra Campinas, executive director of the DiabetesCERO Foundation.
Finally, there was a round table discussion on successful cases of fundraising projects in the hospital and scientific research sector in Spain with the participation of Ruben Ventura, director of the FERO Foundation; Dr. Manel del Castillo, managing director of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu; and Dr. Ramon Gomis i Barbarà, former director of IDIBAPS; moderated by Cristina Salvador, founder of Both People & Comms.
The closing speech was given by Montserrat Viladomiu, member of the Board of Trustees of the Vila Casas Foundation, and Núria Vilamajó, head of Sponsorship at the hospital.
The event served to share knowledge and identify opportunities for collaboration and improvement, thus reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to professionalizing its sponsorship and fundraising, which will allow for the promotion of innovative projects with a high social impact.
