The 'Solidarity rounding-up' campaign launched by Bonpreu and Esclat in association with the social cooperation platform Worldcoo, offers the supermarkets' customers the opportunity to round up their final purchase amount to support various social causes. This December, the focus will be on endometriosis research carried out by the Hospital Clínic Barcelona-IDIBAPS.
How does the rounding-up work?
Very simply, customers who make purchases of over €5 with a credit or debit card can round up the amount of the purchase, with a minimum donation of €0.10. The option is presented on a voluntary basis, offering an accessible way of contributing to social causes while doing everyday shopping.
Endometriosis: The silent disease
Endometriosis is a chronic disease that affects around 10% of women of reproductive age. Characterized by the abnormal presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus, it can cause severe pelvic pain and fertility problems. Despite its prevalence, the causes are still unknown and there is no specific treatment.
Objectives and beneficiaries of the campaign:
The money raised by this campaign will fund research to find answers to the causes of endometriosis and develop innovative treatments. The initiative also aims to raise awareness of the disease and seeks to improve the quality of life of all affected women, offering real hope to those who are suffering the consequences.
The importance of participating:
Every small donation through the ‘Solidarity Rounding-up’ initiative is a valuable contribution. Not only can the active participation of Bonpreu and Esclat customers have a long-term impact on the cure and treatment of the disease, it also contributes to making visible a reality that affects many women, especially young women who, due to a lack of information and social normalization of the symptoms, do not seek medical care.
