The research projects financed by the Marató de TV3 Foundation, with the funds raised in the 2022 edition of the telethon focused on cardiovascular diseases, were announced today.
Cardiovascular diseases can affect different organs of the body, especially the arteries in the heart and brain. Many diseases affect cardiovascular health. The most serious ones are heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke and sudden cardiac death. They are the main cause of death in developed countries and one of the most important public health problems.
The selected projects aim to make progress in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, to reduce mortality as much as possible and improve people's quality of life. The final amount raised was €11.2 million euros. This money will be divided up among the 37 winning research projects, which will be carried out by 71 research teams.
The ten selected projects that include researchers from the Hospital Clínic-IDIBAPS are:
- Secondary brain damage induced by alterations in glucose metabolism in aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage: diagnostic and prognostic value of continuous glucose monitoring.
