For the sixth consecutive year, IDIBAPS organised its science summer camp. This year, the activity took place over three weeks: from July 17 to 23, from July 24 to 30 and from July 31 to August 4, in the CEK building. Every week 24 children aged from 5 to 12 took part, mostly the children of FRCB-IDIBAPS and Hospital Clínic employees.
This year, the challenge set at the summer camp was to open an encrypted safe by solving experiments and applying technological knowledge creatively. To achieve this goal, the children made lamps, chemical corals, 3D keyrings, electrical circuits and solar cookers, as well as resolving a mathematical gymkhana, among other activities. The children also took a trip to the Historical Botanical Garden, where explored and discovered the diversity of plants from all over the world.
The purpose of the summer camp is to provide a service for the institution's employees with young children and to assist with the work/life balance. It also aims to awaken children's interest in the world of science through experimentation and direct observation of the environment, as well as to encourage critical thinking and creativity.
