Hospital at Home (HaH) Unit.
The aim of this agreement is to strengthen the Hospital Clínic’s hospital at home activity as a service of excellence in the fields of healthcare, teaching and research, promoting the consolidation of comprehensive patient care. SEAT S.A. has lent the Hospital 3 SEAT Ibiza cars. The event to present the agreement and the new vehicles was attended by Dr. Josep Maria Campistol, director general of the Hospital Clínic Barcelona, and Dr. Patricia Such, director of corporate operations at SEAT S.A. The HaH medical team headed by Dr. Jordi Altés and Dr. David Nicolás, the nursing team represented by Núria Seijas, and the administrative team represented by Maria Asenjo, also attended the presentation of the cars. The agreement and the loan are initially for a period of one year.
The Cross-cutting Hospital at Home (HaH) Unit is a healthcare service that offers patients with medical or surgical illnesses the possibility of receiving hospital-level treatment or care at home, ensuring conditions similar to those available within the hospital.
In other words, a patient who needs to be admitted to a conventional ward is provided with hospital-level care, but in a home setting. Patients can access the HaH service via the Accident & Emergency Department or different hospital wards and, in specific cases, they can also be admitted directly from their own home without having to go to hospital. The HaH Unit at the Hospital Clínic Barcelona reports to the Medical and Nursing Management and is made up of a multidisciplinary team that serves all the hospital's institutes and healthcare areas, and also the other centres in its area of influence. Its activity has been growing in recent years, and the service was particularly important during the COVID-19 pandemic. It currently has 82 virtual beds, and carries out almost 2,000 visits a year.
The HaH care has expanded even further with the incorporation of the Plató Centre, where the service has 2 teams. Moreover, the Mental Health Hospital at Home unit has been extended to care for adolescent patients. It now provides care for up to 11 patients, including both adults and adolescents. Finally, the HaH Unit also manages the Medicalized Hotel, a project that arose from the need to provide this service to highly complex patients who live outside the Hospital Clínic Barcelona’s referral area. In this way, they are offered accommodation in a hotel near the hospital and the HaH professionals visit them as if they were at home.
“With this loan, we wish to show SEAT S.A.’s commitment to people’s health. We hope this agreement will help improve the quality of home medical care and, at the same time, ensure more efficient mobility in the field of healthcare”, said Dr. Patricia Such.
Dr. Josep Maria Campistol, director general of the Hospital Clínic Barcelona, highlighted the importance of the partnership with SEAT S.A “in order to be able to continue to lead the way in quality home healthcare, with the best professionals specializing in this area”.
