New Clinical Simulation Laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine

Improving medical practice for third-cycle students and broadening their experience of the care of critical patients is the aim of the new Clinical Simulation Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine at UB - one of the most advanced, in terms of medical simulation, of any Spanish university. This teaching device was presented on Friday, 8 May in an event presided over by the vice rector of Teaching and European Convergence, Amelia Díaz, and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Francesc Cardellach, as well as other institutional authorities.

The Clinical Simulation Laboratory, with an area of 74 m2, reproduces a real intensive care environment and has state-of-the-art technical devices for the care of critical and emergency patients. This facility is intended for both post-graduate and doctoral students, in the framework of the interuniversity master’s on Comprehensive Care of Critical and Emergency Patients (UB-UAB), and for health care professionals (medical and nursing teams) who work in intensive care or emergency. Professor Josep M. Nicolàs (Department of Medicine, Hospital Clínic, Barcelona) and the expert Miquel Sanz (Hospital Clínic, Barcelona) are the academic and operational managers, respectively, of this new laboratory.
