In early-July, Budapest hosted the Ninth Congress of the European Academy of Neurologists, a non-profit organisation representing 45,000 members and 47 European national societies.
Several awards were presented at the congress to experts who stand out in their specialist areas. Dr Josep Dalmau, an ICREA researcher at IDIBAPS, where he is the leader of the Pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders group, received the Camillo Golgi Award in recognition of his research into autoimmune encephalitis. The congress organisers arranged an interview with Dalmau, which is available to view here.
Dr Dalmau also recently received the Scientific Breakthrough 2023 Award from the American Brain Foundation in recognition of the Clínic Barcelona-IDIBAPS researcher’s commitment to enriching our understanding of autoimmune neurological diseases such as encephalitis, paraneoplastic syndromes and so on.
