Isabel Blanco is the head of the group Translational research in pulmonary vascular diseases: cell proliferation and apoptotic mechanisms in pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Carlos Fernández de Larrea leads the group Myeloma, amyloidosis, macroglobulinemia and other gammapathies.
Gisela Sugranyes is the head of the group Multimodal neuroimaging in high risk and early psychosis.
All three have been researchers in the 50/50 programme since it was created 10 years ago. The purpose of this programme is to make it easier for young, established specialist doctors from Hospital Clínic de Barcelona to dedicate half their working day to research and the other half to patient care. Fernández de Larrea and Sugranyes will continue to be involved in this programme. Blanco will leave it to assume the duties of the head of the Pulmonary Hypertension Unit at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.
