The first “PhD Welcome Days” initiative was a great success. The event, which took place on 15, 16, 23, 24 and 25 January, began with the institutional welcome by the director Elías Campo, followed by the “Opportunities for PhD students” presentation by Cristina Fillat, head of the Gene Therapy and Cancer group and representative of the PhD Committee.
The aim of the conference was to welcome the pre-doctoral researchers who joined the institution this year.
Over the course of these days, different workshops were held, such as the presentation of tools and resources to help and empower the researchers during their time as PhD students, an introduction to the process of publishing scientific articles, a visit to the Scientific Platforms, and a social activity organized by PhD Community. You can find the programme here.
“I enjoyed taking part in this conference, because it allowed me to put faces to the names of other researchers and also get to know the IDIBAPS facilities, since up to now I only knew the CELLEX building, where my group is located”, says Michael Nicoli from the Nephrology and Transplantation (LENIT) research group.
Thanks to the success of the first PhD Welcome Days, the idea is to consolidate this event to make sure future PhD students feel they belong to the institution and can establish a network that strengthens future collaborations.
As those responsible for organizing this conference, representatives from the Institutional Actions Office say that, “Being able to organize this conference has been very enriching for both parties. We feel very satisfied with the good response and the high level of student participation. We hope it will be of great use to them”.
