First Dr. Anna Bosch offered a brief introduction (download the slides in Catalan), and then each of the IDIBAPS Scientific Core Facilities was introduced by its coordinators:
- Biobank. A facility with three major areas: the Neurological Tissue Bank, the Tumors and Pathology Bank, and the DNA and Fluids Bank. Its services include opportunities such as DNA extraction from paraffin-embedded and frozen material, laser microdissection and tissue microarrays. View the slides in Catalan - Website
- Biostatistics and Data Management. Data management tasks are far beyond Excel sheets. Contact them for support in project design, data collection and analysis. In addition to support tasks, they offer teaching actions. View the slides in Catalan - Website
- Cytometry. With 6 cytometers and 3 sorters complex studies can be addresses separating elements in a sample with many different colours. This facility provides opportunities for analysis that may be surprising. View the slides in Catalan - Website
- Genomics. It offers tools and staff for a reliable ultrasequencing and transcriptome analysis. Their services include arrays to analyze RNA and DNA from human and animal samples, and will help you to determine the amount and quality of nucleic acid in samples. View the slides in Catalan- Website
- Bioinformatics. A platform constantly evolving to adapt to the "omics" advances. From the perspective of long experience, they offer consulting services and programming, as well as educational initiatives. View the slides in Catalan - Website
- Medical Imaging. After undertaking a series of structural changes, the facility offers new experimental MRI services. They offer advising during the design of experiments, optimized imaging and support in the analysis of results. View the slides in Catalan - Website
The tariffs for the services offered by these facilities, often with a reduced price for IDIBAPS’ staff, are available on the IDIBAPS website. Their leaders and the head of the Scientific Core Facilities are available to the research community for additional information requests and to establish new collaborations.
