José J. Broseta and Gastón Julio Piñeiro are researchers from the Nephrology and Transplantation (LENIT) research group led by Fritz Diekmann. Each of them has been selected for one of the grants endowed with €24,000 to conduct their clinical research project.
The "CalCio-HD" project by José J. Broseta aims to analyse the influence of dialysis fluid composition on vascular calcification in patients with chronic kidney disease who are on haemodialysis. Gastón Piñeiro will conduct the project "Dose of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy in Critically Ill Patients" where the impact of different doses of renal therapy on the loss of micronutrients and the elimination of toxins will be studied.
