Problem

Kidney failure is a problem that affects millions of people, causing morbidity and mortality. Although it is often not possible to cure the disease, our goal is for most of our patients to attain a good quality of life and the same life expectancy as the general population.

Approach

We use translational approaches. We identify the problem at the clinical level. Likewise, we characterize it at the human level and/or in experimental models. And finally, we look for intervention points and possible therapies.

Impact

In recent years, we have established experimental models for transplantation, renal regeneration, purification of particles and glomerular diseases that have allowed us to advance toward finding therapeutic solutions.

In the immediate future, we will generate new knowledge, biomarkers, and intervention points that may result in potential therapies that improve expectations for kidney patients.
