In April 2015, IDIBAPS was recognized by the European Commission with the "HR Excellence in research" logo of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) initiative. From that moment, with the aim of improving in compliance with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment for Researchers (Charter and Code), the Institute started to implement its 2015-2017 Improvement Plan, which was subsequently updated to continue with the 2018-2020 Action Plan.
In June 2021, the necessary documentation was submitted in order to renew this international recognition. Subsequently, on May 5 of this year, the audit required to conclude this process took place. Three experts from different European institutions thoroughly evaluated the achievements of the institute. This was possible after interviewing about forty people working at IDIBAPS. The result has been satisfactory, since the recognition "HR excellence in research" has been approved. The experts have satisfactorily valued the progress achieved thanks to the implementation of appropriate and quality actions. In addition, they have also taken into account that HRS4R is part of the IDIBAPS strategy.
The resulting evaluation report suggests to IDIBAPS several improvements to be carried out during the next three years. In parallel, strengths, and weaknesses are also highlighted, as well as a general conclusion highlighting the high level of ambition demonstrated, the existing capacity to learn from the lessons of the past and the effort made to communicate the initiative via the institutional HRS4R website, as well as the visibility given to this initiative in the job offers section.
For about a year now, IDIBAPS has been implementing actions of its new Action Plan 2021-2024. Therefore, the institute works and will continue to do so under the principle of continuous improvement inherent to HRS4R. Its ultimate goal is to continue improving the support it gives to its research community to be an institute that provides a favorable working environment to become more excellent and competitive. It is expected that with all these efforts, the "HR Excellence in research" recognition will be maintained beyond the year 2025.
