IDIBAPS has reformed the installations at Còrsega Street with funds of the Astra Zeneca Chair in Diabetes Innovation

The Astra Zeneca Chair in Diabetes Innovation has funded the refurbishment of the IDIBAPS facilities at 180 Còrsega Street to adapt some of the areas for translational research related to the improvement of the clinical practice. Several of the activities of Dr. Emili Ros, Dr. Josep Vidal and Dr. Anna Novials research teams are located in these facilities, although they are open and accessible to all groups at IDIBAPS.

Last May, IDIBAPS and Astra Zeneca launched the Astra Zeneca Chair in Diabetes Innovation, the first articulated at IDIBAPS under a public-private initiative with the aim of promoting translational research and innovation.

The three strategic objectives of this Chair are: the participation in competitive grants for translational research in diabetes, with the aim of improving clinical practice; the promotion of educational activities for healthcare professionals in the field of diabetes; and the development of social programs through the diffusion of new methods in therapeutic education, especially in the field of nutrition and lifestyle.

In addition to the refurbishment of the facilities at Còrsega Street, the action plan for 2014-2015 in this area focuses on the realization of the first training course of the Chair at IDIBAPS next October 23-24, and the launch of the new Astra Zeneca Chair website, that will allow the diffusion of the activities that take place and recent developments in the treatment of the disease.
