IDIBAPS began implementing the HRS4R in April 2014 by setting up a 14 people working group representing the diversity of Institute’s research community. The group included professionals from different areas of research, with different profiles and in various stages of their career development, who were hired by IDIBAPS, and also by the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, University of Barcelona, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Clinic Foundation.
The working group drafted the analysis of the initial situation, thanks to a survey that asked the Institute’s community which aspects of the of the Chart and Code considered as a priority to work on the HRS4R strategy at IDIBAPS.
Then, the group elaborated the 3-year action plan IDIBAPS HRS4R (2015-2018) which includes improvements in the areas of Professional attitude; Periodic evaluation system; Recruitment, transparency, selection and merits evaluation; Career development; Complaints / claims; Participation in decision-making organs; Access toa continuous professional development; and Supervision.
Finally, today IDIBAPS has received positive response of the HR Excellence in Research. The CE congratulates the Institute for trying to be rigorously aligned with the principles of the Chart and the Code and also for the methodology the working group has used.
The process HRS4R is voluntary. However, this European recognition favors a favorable assessment of the proposals in Horizon 2020, especially in the calls for Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions.
Thanks to this, IDIBAPS aims to achieve the objective of continuous improvement in relation to the European Chart and Code. The implementation will be closely monitored in order to renew in 2019 the received recognition without problems. At the same time, the internal avalutaion process will be repeated and new actions will be designed to develop a new strategy.
