La Pedrera became a huge laboratory on 15 and 16 April. Barcelona Science Park (Parc Científic de Barcelona) organized the 7th edition of the Live Research Fair (Fira en Directe), an initiative to explain the work of Catalan research centers to the public. Over the course of two days, more than 10 centers explain some of their lines of research to visitors to the fair. Many active researchers explain what they do and invite the public to interact with elements relating to their work.In this edition, IDIBAPS worked with the Respiratory Immunology-Allergy Unit. At our stand, Dr. Aida Herrerias and Mariona Serra presented their research on the treatment of asthma, a disease that affects more than 300 million people and for which there is, as yet, no effective treatment. Using explanatory posters, videos explaining the experimental model and a microscope provided by Olympus, visitors were able to gain a greater understanding of this disease and what is being done to combat it.
