The project Female Talent: Scientists Speak Out is an IDIBAPS action funded by the FECYT to raise the visibility of and give a voice to female scientists who reflect on the obstacles they encountered because they are women. In this edition, 5 researchers have taken part: Azucena Salas, head of the Inflammatory bowel diseases group; Fàtima Crispi, researcher in the Foetal and perinatal medicine group; Lidia Sabater, researcher in the Pathogenesis of autoimmune neuronal disorders, group; Maria Reig, head of the Hepatic Oncology group (BCLC), and Sílvia Beà, researcher in the Molecular pathology of lymphoid neoplasms group.
Lidia Sabater highlights the idea that "It is important to be surrounded by good professionals, but above all, by good people, because you are going to need help and advice". For her part, Maria Reig advises: “Don't let prejudices impose limits on your career. Talent does not recognise gender”. In the case of Azucena Salas, she emphasizes that "Science is not a machine that produces results, we need creativity and risk-taking. Conciliation policies are necessary, so that women can innovate".
