In recent months, its use has been boosted to transform care processes by deploying the full potential offered by telemedicine to benefit patients, defining specific areas and also including improvements in visualization. At the same time, the facility for carrying out group video visits between patients and a professional has been set up, and the rescheduling and cancellation of appointments has been activated, increasing security, facilitating the service for the user and improving response times.
Projects to improve telemedicine care include hospitalization at home, incorporating communication devices, connected medical devices, tools such as a care plan, follow-up forms, chat, video visits and alerts for patients admitted at home.
Other examples focused on the outpatient setting include the improvements applied to patients with Type 1 diabetes with continuous glucose monitoring, communication of hypoglycaemia, and more flexible outpatient follow-up in line with clinical evolution; cardiac tele-rehabilitation, which incorporates video visits with the cardiologist, group physiotherapy video sessions and group nursing video consultations, and the use of questionnaires for care follow-up. Finally, in outpatient tele-pharmacy a new model has been implemented for the validation, preparation and dispensing of outpatient medication for hospital dispensing, improving the service and avoiding patient waiting times.
Work is being carried out to provide new user functionalities and to apply the full capacity of ’El Meu Clínic’ and the telemedicine tools in more care processes such as those for endometriosis, liver transplants, non-invasive home ventilation, home support for pregnant women and babies, heart failure, interstitial lung disease, assisted preparation for tests, etc.
