Dr. Ribal is the First Woman to Receive the 2009 Urology Prize of the European Association of Urology

This is the first time that the European Association of Urology has given this award to a woman and the first time the award has been won by a Spaniard.  Dr. María José Ribal of the Hospital Clínic urology department received the 2009 Crystal Matula award, an international recognition of the scientific work of young people who have contributed to advances in urology. The prize was awarded on 19 March in Stockholm, Sweden, in a ceremony held at the 24th annual conference of the European Association of Urology. Dr. Ribal won the award for the innovative nature of her research in the field of urologic oncology, particularly bladder cancer.
