Dr. Moisès Broggi i Vallès: A role model

The dawn of 30 December, Dr. Moises Broggi i Vallès died at 104 years in Barcelona. Dr. Broggi had a long career in which he was recognized with several prizes as well as being considered one of the founders of bioethics in our country. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona, at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War he served as a doctor on call in the emergency department of the Clínic. He took part in the war for the Republican side, being the head of the surgical team of the International Brigades. Once the war ended, he returned to the Clínic where he practiced as a surgeon. The Franco regime disqualified him for public practice. For this reason he had to work in the private health system, operating until he was 85.
