The research activity developed by Dr. Campo and his group has focused on the characterization of human tumors from a multidisciplinary approach to understand the mechanisms involved in its development and progression, define more precise diagnostic criteria, establish predictive models of progress and response to treatment and establish the molecular basis for the development of new therapeutic strategies.
The search for new mechanisms involved in tumor progression led to the identification of CCND1 as a highly specific diagnostic element in mantle cell lymphoma, a highly aggressive lymphoma, and also in the progression of advanced stages of laryngeal cancer. In recent years, his research has focused on genomic analysis of lymphoid neoplasms and their potential clinical impact and clinicopathological characterization of poorly defined lymphoid malignancies.
