The foundation stone of the new building of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute was laid on Saturday July 7th at the ICO/Germans Trias i Pujol Campus in Badalona. This centre, created in 2010, aims to progress in quality biomedical research against leukaemia and other haematological malignancies. It’s the only centre in our country and one of the few in the world solely focused on these illnesses. The initiative will have two sites, one at the Clínic Campus, which includes the IDIBAPS - Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and the UB School of Medicine, and the new building at the ICO/Germans Trias i Pujol Campus in Badalona with the UAB. The event was attended by the Very Honorable Mr. Artur Mas, President of the Generalitat of Catalonia,a nd the Excellency Mr. Josep Carreras, President of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute.
