On Saturday 11 May, Catalunya Ràdio’s programme, ‘El Suplement’, directed and presented by per Roger Escapa, will be broadcast live from the Open Clínic. A festive event open to the entire community, aimed at opening up the doors of the Campus Clínic while promoting healthy habits and health awareness. The Open Clínic is organized by the Clínic Barcelona, the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS), the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, the Barcelona Esquerra Primary Healthcare Consortium (CAPSBE), and the Barcelona Global Health Institute (ISGlobal). The ‘El Suplement’ radio programme will be broadcast from the Open Clínic thanks to the support of the biotech company, Amgen.
The broadcast of the special edition of ‘El Suplement’ will start at 10 am and end at 1 pm. The day’s protagonists will take to the airwaves of Catalunya Ràdio, sharing human stories linked to the Campus Clínic. Several live connections are also planned to get to know some of the lesser-known places on the Campus. That day’s ‘El Suplement’ will maintain the usual sections of the programme such as ‘Crònica negra’ with Mayka Navarro, ‘El comunista’ with Joel Díaz, and the cookery section with Pep Nogué.
Among the more than 100 activities programmed, highlights include the concert by the family group, Xiula, and the concert by the promising young talent of the moment, Maria Hein, spinning and zumba sessions, 4 show cooking sessions with Ada Parelllada (Semproniana), Eduard Xatruch (Disfrutar), the food influencer and Clínic professional, Jorge Saludable, and Carlota Claver (Gormanda). Meanwhile, over 300 professionals from Campus Clínic organizations will take part in over 60 workshops and information tables on a wide range of subjects such as: cardiovascular health, Alzheimer’s disease, osteoarthritis, sexual health, mental health, cannabis consumption, premature birth care, community health, malaria, etc. At the same time, 15 informative talks have also been organized in different parts of the Campus and 14 guided tours (with prior registration) to access areas that are not normally open to the public, such as the state-of-the-art operating theatre, the Pain Unit, the UB Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences’ body donation service, the clinical simulation room, and the Biobank (IDIBAPS). There will also be science and health workshops for children 6-12 years old.
It is the first time an event of this kind is being held in the country. The Open Clínic's activities will occupy around 15,000 square metres and it is anticipated that 8,000 to 10,000 people will pass through over the course of the day.
