The team was made up of 15 firefighters, two of them members of the canine unit, an emergency doctor, and a nurse from the Hospital Clínic Barcelona Emergency Department.
The torrential rains caused by the DANA weather phenomenon have led to an unprecedented humanitarian emergency in our country. The needs to help the affected people are vast and varied. Campus Clínic Solidari has been working with government agencies and NGOs to provide maximum support, whether through professional assistance or the donation of material resources.
Throughout the previous weekend, professionals from Campus Clínic Solidari and EREC worked in coordination to gather essential aid supplies, including medical supplies (medications, protective equipment) and rescue materials (two water pumps and six special waterproof diving suits), among others.
"It’s devastating, and it’s been very hard," explained Meritxell Cascán. "We have been working on two fronts: using pumps to remove water from basements and garages, and searching for victims, as one of the dogs in the canine unit is highly skilled, and there are very few like him in the entire country."
