CaixaImpulse, a program promoted by the "la Caixa" Foundation and Caixa Capital Risc, supports the projects developed in research centers that may have a direct application in society. Specifically, it wants to encourage the creation of companies of scientific scope and offers the beneficiaries an expert accompaniment program and an economic contribution of up to 70,000 euros to elaborate and execute a business plan to make the project possible. Universities, research centers and non-profit organizations focused on research presented a total of seventy-three proposals out of which twenty have been selected.
IDIBAPS presented two projects, which have been selected:
- PREDICTHEON. Led by Pedro Gambús, specialist at the Anesthesiology Department in Hospital Clínic and researcher at IDIBAPS, it wants to develop a monitoring system to improve the individualized control of patients who undergo sedation.
- EXOLIVER. Headed by Jordi Gracia-Sancho, researcher at the IDIBAPS Liver Hemodynamics Laboratory, it wants to develop a spin-off dedicated to offering hepatology research services using the liver on a chip technology as a platform to test liver toxicity in the development of new drugs.
