The Campus offers a stimulating environment for research and innovation, notably the Hospital Clínic Barcelona, a century-old referral hospital committed to health care, research and teaching, which covers practically all medical and surgical specialities, and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, which dates back to 1843 and is now one of the most respected health faculties in Spain and in the world.
At IDIBAPS there are 26 groups carrying out cancer research and publishing around 375 scientific articles each year. They form part of the Institute’s 100 clinical and basic research groups, which promote original, translational and multidisciplinary research aimed at resolving biological and clinical issues of relevance to human health. Moreover, IDIBAPS has been a pioneer in programmes dedicated to promoting the profiles of clinical scientists.
