With an infrastructure of 4,500 m2, the CMCiB aims to be a benchmark in comparative medicine, bioimaging, and computational models. The center’s facilities include four modular experimental surgical operating rooms equipped with minimally invasive technology, ultrasound and a portable surgical C-arm, a catheterization laboratory, 3-tesla magnetic resonance imaging for pre-clinical research and validation of medical devices, with large-animal models and an animal housing area with different biocontainment levels (SPF, conventional, and NCB3) for rodents, with laboratories and equipment for bioimaging using luminescence and fluorescence, and microCT. The CMCiB is a 3R center and promotes the use of alternative methods such as in silico models, organoids, drosophila, and the zebra-fish platform. It also has a team of professionals specializing in working with animal models, in training, and consulting.
