Throughout 2024, we have made progress in implementing the HR Excellence in Research award, part of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4) initiative.
At the beginning of the year, we held the first edition of the PhD Welcome Days, an event dedicated to giving an institutional welcome to first-year doctoral students. Its main objective is to provide PhD candidates with tools for conducting their thesis and staying at the institution while fostering a sense of belonging.
For PhD candidates, we also hosted the third edition of the PhD Day, organized by the PhD Community, with over 100 attendees. This year, the event featured talks on knowledge transfer, sustainability and scientific outreach. Additionally, there was a poster session and a three-minute thesis presentation competition as has become a tradition.
For the first time, we conducted a survey specifically for postdoctoral researchers to better understand their needs and work on structural programmes tailored to this.
In terms of training, we organized four Toolbox sessions, covering Artificial Intelligence, mindfulness, knowledge transfer and a session with an editor from renowned scientific journal. We have also started to designing and implementing a training programme for lab and core facilities technicians. Furthermore, they have been access to additional training opportunities offered by Stepping Stone.
The institution’s Code of Good Scientific Practices has been updated. Additionally, we have started developing training capsules on research integrity.
Finally, this year, we launched the Reforming Research Assessment at IDIBAPS (2024-2028) action plan, aligned with the institution’s commitment to the CoARA action plan.
We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that in May 2025, the HR Excellence in Research award will be renewed. We invite all of you to participate by sharing your ideas and suggestions to help us improve as an institution and as a community.
