During this year, several actions have been carried out within the HR Excellence in Research recognition (part of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, HRS4), which IDIBAPS renewed last year.
Since last year, Career Sessions have been implemented, workshops aimed at promoting the professional development of our researchers and fostering a more dynamic environment among them. These sessions contribute “non-scientific” tools within the Stepping Stone program. Throughout this year, four sessions have taken place: Careers Beyond the Bench: Chat with a Medical Scientific Liaison; workshop about Writing a proposal for beginners; another workshop about Career Development and, in June, we celebrated the second edition of the PhD Day.
The Toolbox IDIBAPS Talk Series sessions have increased, with five held this year. You can check the annual program here. Four of them, were linked to Open Science, taking advantage of the new institutional policy we published in April.
As a result of the update made last year to the Gender Equality Plan, discussions on the importance of diversity in research have been initiated. In June, during a Toolbox session by PRISMA, the current situation of the LGBTQIA+ collective in the scientific community was presented, along with the future actions that can be taken, both individually and institutionally, to improve diversity inclusion in research environments. Following this theme, in July, the Clinic Barcelona Summer School took place, featuring a session on The Value of Diversity in Biomedical Research. Additionally, this past November, an interview was conducted by Simón Perera (Secretary of PRISMA) and Sergi Castellví (Group Leader of the Genetic Predisposition to Gastrointestinal Cancer research group and PRISMA member) on the occasion of STEM Day LGTBIQA+.
As a year-end conclusion, we are developing specific training sessions for laboratory technicians, which will be included in the Stepping Stone Training Program.
