Echocardiogram is a test that uses ultrasound techniques to produce, in real time, images of the heart. The most common is called transthoracic echocardiography. There are other types of echocardiography depending on the images you want to obtain from the heart: contrast transthoracic echocardiogram, transoesophageal echocardiogram, bubble echocardiogram and stress echocardiogram.
