Reseach in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia at the Clínic
Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia research is mostly carried out at the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) and the haematology area. Specifically, the following groups are involved:
- Biomedical epigenomics
- Molecular pathology in lymphoid neoplasms
- Experimental therapies in lymphoid neoplasms
The Clínic leads numerous international translational research projects (e.g. the genome sequencing project in LLC [ICGC-CLL], the Lymphoma/Molecular Leukaemia Profiling Project [LLMPP]) and more than 20 clinical trials with new drugs. The use of CAR T-cell therapy (T-cells with chimeric antigenic receptors) in the treatment of lymphomas and lymphoid leukaemias is also important, with it being one of the centres accredited nationwide for the use of such treatment, both at the academic and commercial level.
