About me

Dr. Laia Fernández-Barat is the coordinator of the Translational research laboratory for the microbiology diagnosis and pathogen-host response in respiratory infections integrated in the IDIBAPS research group lead by Prof. Antoni Torres. From the lab she leads three lines with competitive funding: one to identify COVID-19 epitopes for the production of monoclonal antibodies, another to determine the implications of the mucoid PA in microbiome dysbiosis, exacerbations and host response on bronchiectasis patient’s and ultimately she studies the effect of different therapeutic approaches on endotracheal tube biofilms from the pig animal model and also from ICU patients. In addition, she is promoting the use of advanced imaging in vivo and identifying miRNAs, or mucus rheologic properties f
