The Neurology Service was created in 1972 and is part of the Clínic Institute of Neuroscience. The Neurology Service offers quality and efficient healthcare focused on people with neurological diseases. It also has teaching and research programs that make it a definitive healtcare resource at the national and international level.
The Neurology Service admits 1,300 patients a year; it handles 20,000 outpatient visits (including outpatient consultations and primary neurological care); 4,000 one-day hospital sessions; 9,000 sessions of cognitive or physical examinations for patients with neurodegenerative diseases; 7,500 functional tests (electromyography [EMG], electroencephalography [EEG], evoked potentials, polysomnographies, etc.), 125 evaluations of the video-electroencephalogram complex; 100 functional surgeries for patients with Epilepsy or Movement Disorders and 1,650 hospital consultations.
