This third edition of the Endofest, which was held on 25 May at the Parc de Can Verboom in Premià de Dalt, raised more than 20,000 euros for endometriosis research at the Clínic-IDIBAPS, thus combating the social silence surrounding this disease.
Endometriosis is one of the most common benign gynaecological diseases. It affects 10% of women of reproductive age. In other words, between 1 and 2 million women in Spain and around 176 million worldwide, and it is one of the main causes of pelvic pain and of reproductive problems in women.
The over 1,600 people who attended this festival, promoted by Anna Bassols, an endometriosis patient, and organized in collaboration with Premià de Dalt Town Council, were able to enjoy live music by Dàmaris Gelabert, Alba Grasa, Ana Polo, Carla Forns “Moviendo la vida”, Les COCO, Els Catarres and DJ Trapella. In addition, there was also a children’s area, food trucks, merch stalls, and much more!
As well as the activities for young and old throughout the day, in the afternoon Dr. Francesc Carmona and Dr. Mariona Rius—head of the Gynaecology Service and gynaecologist at the Clínic—gave talks on endometriosis in which they discussed the symptoms, how the condition diagnosed, and how to treat it.
This year, the Ulisses x Endofest was also made possible thanks to the involvement of 64 volunteers who did their bit to support the organization during the event.
