Endometriosis is a disease that affects 10% of women of reproductive age, and it is considered one of the most prevalent pathologies in young women.
Aware of this reality, the Bonpreu and Esclat supermarkets earmarked last December’s solidary rounding-up campaign, managed through the social platform Worldcoo, for endometriosis research at the Hospital Clínic Barcelona Research Foundation-IDIBAPS.
As a result, at these supermarkets during the entire month, all customers who wished to do so could round up the amount of their purchases and thus donate to this cause. The result was €42,266 raised thanks to a total of 293,904 donations.
This money will fund research aimed at addressing the causes of endometriosis and developing innovative treatments. In addition to providing financial support, the campaign has contributed to raising awareness of the disease and improving the quality of life of women affected by it.
We would like to thank Bonpreu and Esclat, as well as all their customers who have enthusiastically taken part in this campaign. Their generosity gives new impetus to research into endometriosis at the Campus Clínic and real hope to those who suffer from this disease.
A silent disease
Endometriosis is a chronic disease that affects around 10% of women of reproductive age. Characterized by the abnormal presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus, it can cause severe pelvic pain and fertility problems. Despite its prevalence, this condition often goes unnoticed and there is no specific treatment for it.
